FAQ

Why do you offer online physical therapy and training?Online programming allows me to give you a more comprehensive plan to fit your needs, with 3 personalized workouts and cardio training per week, and the ability to communicate with me every day. It gives me the ability to track your progress, unlike traditional physical therapy, which includes no communication between sessions. Virtual rehab also allows you to choose when you workout, so it's most convenient for you, and has no arbitrary time limits. Instead of the standard hour-long PT session, you can ask me to tailor the lengths of your workouts to fit your unique schedule - whether you can only do 5 minutes a day or you want to do an hour and half 3 times per week.

Do you take patients with Medicare?I do not currently take insurance. If you have Medicare, I am unable to provide physical therapy services to you for cash payment. However, I am able to work with you if you would like to take part in personal training or coaching. Please reach out to me with any questions.

How long do people typically work with you?It is extremely individual! Some folks see me for 4-6 visits in-person, and then are confident to be on a plan for maintenance. Some see me virtually for a few months to return to sport. Some people see me indefinitely for training. It all depends on what you're dealing with, what you're goals are and what YOU want.

Can I see you in-person?Absolutely!!! I offer one-on-one sessions at Topper Fitness in Tequesta (where all of my gym-based photos were taken!) and at Martin Athletic Training in Stuart. I see some patients only in-person, and some on a hybrid schedule, with online training and in-person sessions mixed in.

Do you take insurance? At this time, I do not take insurance. If you would like to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, I will supply you with a superbill. Part of the reason I don't take insurance is because insurance reimbursement dictates the type of treatment I may provide, regardless of evidence against its effectiveness. This is unfortunately why you see 3 patients for every one physical therapist at most clinics. The best results are derived from one-on-one therapy, so I have elected not to take insurance. Another reason is that insurance doesn't cover preventative care, like injury prevention or optimizing health. An underlying principle of mine is taking the utmost care of our bodies to ensure healthy aging.

What happens at my first visit? Our first meeting can be either in-person or virtual. I give an hour and a half for initial evaluations. Prior to this evaluation, I will already have a lot of information about your health history and current health goals from our discovery call. When we meet virtually or at Topper Fitness or Martin Athletic Training, we will do a deeper dive on several domains of your health. I will perform a movement screen to see what movement patterns you have when you are in pain. I will perform strength and range of motion tests and other movement tests as appropriate. After all the information is gathered, we will discuss my findings and I will provide you with a plan that fits your lifestyle and goals to get you to optimal health.

Do I need a referral to see you?No. If you are seeing me in person at my location within Topper Fitness (Jupiter, FL) or Martin Athletic Training (Stuart, FL) you can see me without a prescription for physical therapy for 30 days. I see a lot of patients who get better within 30 days, and who often switch to training rather than therapy for maintenance care. If you are still dealing with injury after those 30 days, you may get a prescription to continue with therapy. If you are partaking in training or injury prevention, you do not need a prescription in any circumstance.
